We all know we have to move to stay healthy, but often it’s hard to find time for trips to the gym or fitness classes. We have to make a commitment and keep it in order to get and stay in the best shape possible. Luckily, you don’t need a lot of specialized equipment to get fit. Here’s a list of a few necessities, as well as a few fun things tossed in!
Shoes are the most important fitness item you’ll need, regardless of your exercise routine. Walking shoes, running shoes, hiking shoes and others are made especially for the type of workout your feet will get, so make sure you buy the right type of shoes for your exercise of choice.
Your choice of clothing is pretty much up to your own taste. If you’re working out at a gym you might choose to buy what most of the other gym members wear, or opt for a simple pair of shorts or sweat pants and a t-shirt. The main thing is to be comfortable, so don’t worry about the style as much as the fit.
If you perspire a lot while you work out you might choose to wear a sweatband on your forehead or wrists in order to stay more comfortable. There are many styles to choose from, so find what works for you and stick to it.
If you’re working out at a gym you’ll need a bag to carry your clothes and equipment. Choose one that has several pockets so you’ll have room for toiletries and other necessities once your workout is over.
If you’re exercising outdoors you might want to add a raincoat to your wardrobe so you don’t have to miss your workout due to inclement weather. If there’s thunder and lightning you’d better postpone though!
Fitness isn’t all about working out though. Most people like to set goals and do a set amount of time or distance each day. While a simple pedometer will track your time and distance, you might opt for a fitness tracker instead. Put some fun into your run!
